History of Colonel Sanders KFC
In 1939 Colonel Harland Sanders perfected the secret blend of 11 herbs and spices of fried chicken. Colonel Sanders was born on September 9, 1890. He masters range of regional dishes by age of seven.
When he was age forty years old, he moved to Corbin, Kentucky, where he ran a gas station, but to was burned down after a few years. Sander rebuilt it and added a motel and a place to eat. In that locale, Kentucky Fried Chicken was born and the good food soon earned Sanders some local fame.
He developed his Kentucky Fried Chicken recipe using a ‘secret blend’ of 11 herbs and spices.
In 1935, Kentucky’s governor, Ruby Laffoon, officially named Harland Sanders a ‘Kentucky Colonel’ for his contribution to the state’s cuisine.
In 1956 Colonel Sanders sold Corbin, Kentucky, restaurant and enlist new franchisees. By 1964, from humble beginning, Colonel Sanders had 600 franchise outlets for his chicken across United States and Canada.
The company began selling stock to the public in 1966. In 1970, the company had 3,000 outlets in 48 different countries. In 1971, it was listed on New York Stock Exchange.
Colonel Sanders continued to serve as a spokesman and good will ambassador for Kentucky Fried Chicken throughout the 1970s.
Colonel Sanders dies in 1980 of leukemia at the age of 90. In 1994 KFC adds non-fried chicken to menus in the US and Australia.
