Nanotechnology

In 1965, Gordon Moore, one of the founders of Intel Corporation, made the outstanding prediction that the number of transistors that could be fit in a given area would double every 18 months for the next ten years.

In 1959, theoretical physicist Richard Feynman held a speech in Caltech entitled There’s Plenty of Room at the Bottom, he described a process by which the ability to manipulate individual atoms and molecules might be developed, using tools of proportionally smaller dimensions.

Nanotechnology is the creation of functional materials, devices and systems through control of matter on the nanometer length scale (1-100 nanometers). This involves microscopic structures that are no longer than the width of some cell membranes. Nano has evolved from the Greek word ‘nanos’ or the Latin word ‘nanus’ meaning dwarf.

In the early 1980s Heinrich Rohrer and Gerd Binnig developed the scanning tunneling microscope and this instrument became the first in a series of probe microscope with atomic resolution that was considered to open a window to more precise control.

In 2001, a working 16 bit memory circuit is made at UCLA, launching exciting research into applications for electronic circuitry and computers.

- Quantum Theory
Quantum theory  is the theoretical basisof modern physics that explains the nature and behavior of matter and energy on the atomic and sub atomic level. The nature and behavior of matter and energy at that level is sometimes referred to as quantum...

- New Horizons Reveals More Mountains In Pluto's Heart
The frozen peaks were found on the lower-left edge of the dwarf world's "heart" and are 1-1.5km-high.They sit between a patch of icy, flat terrain, called Sputnik Planum, which scientists believe is less than 100 million years old, and a dark area...

- Cell And It's Type
Concept 1: Common Features of All CellsAll cells, whether they are prokaryotic or eukaryotic, have some common features. The common features of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells are:1. DNA, the genetic material contained in one or more chromosomes and...

- History Of Extruder In Food Industry
Extrusion cooking is used today to process a variety of foods and feeds. Ingredients in a powder or granular form are added to the extruder at the feed end, then transported along the length of the barrel by one or two screws. The single screw as an ‘extrusion...

- The Meaning Of Culture
As anthropologist use the term, culture is the way of life shared by a group of people. It is the collective programming of the human mind that distinguishes the members of one human group from those of another. Culture what makes people similar to one...
