What would happen to average temperature if there was no atmosphere in the earth?

The atmosphere is an insulating blanket protecting the Earth. It softens the intense light and heat of the sun.It protects us from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun.The greenhouse gases in the atmosphere trap the outgoing radiation from the earth's surface and keeps the air near the surface warm.It is estimated that the average temperature near the earth's surface will be -18(minus 18) degree celsius instead of the present value of 15 degree celsius if there were no greenhouse gases.
If there were no atmosphere, days will be very hot and nights will be very cold.Take the case of the planet Mercury. It has no atmosphere. The days are scorching hot (430 degree celsius)and nights, frigid (-170 degree celsius).Similarly the Moon does not have an atmosphere. The temperature during day time is about 100 degree celsius and -180 degree celsius during night time.
