Concepts Of Acids And Bases
Acids and bases have been given several concepts so that we can recognize them.Mainly Three concepts have been given. They are:
1)Arrhenius concept
=>This concept states that,"A acid is a species which gives [H^+] ion in an aqueous solution and base is a species that ionizes to give [OH^-] in solution."This concept is broadly used than other.Other concepts also follow this concept if these species are dessolved in water or any polar solvent.
2)Bronstate lowry concept.
=>It says that acids are specices that donate proton or H^+ ion while bases are species that accept proton or H^+ ion.According to this concept, water can act as both base and acid.
3)Lewis Concept
=>According to this concept,"Acid is electron pair acceptor and base is electron pair donar."This concept works on that species which is unstable or which haven't got octate state for acid and which has more electron pairs for base.
Lewis acids are BF3,H+,...etc.
Lewis basea are NH3,..etc.

Vsepr Theory
Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion (VSPER) theory is used to predict the geometric shape of the molecules based on the electron repulsive force. There are some limitation to VSEPR.IntroductionThe shapes of the molecules is determined mainly by the...

Formation Of H2o Molecule(bonds)
H2O molecule contains two Hydrogen atoms linked with a Oxygen atom. So we can describe the formation of Water molecule bond either by valence shell electron pair repultion theory or by Hybridization concept. ...

Arrhenius Theory
Arrhenius theory gives the peoperties of an electrolyte in solution. The main postulates are given below:- 1)When any electrolyte is dessolved in water or in any polar solvent, electrolyte dissociates giving electrically charged particles called ions.Positively...
